At the climax of Keaton's 1925 comedy, Seven Chances, the frantic hero sprints through the countryside, pursued by dozens of angry women in bridal dresses. Viewers were underwhelmed by the chase, but they cheered when Keaton dislodged some rocks from a hillside as he ran, so he slotted in a new segment in which he had to dodge an avalanche of tumbling boulders. This action sequence became one of the most celebrated of Keaton's career.
